Course Overview
Course Objective
In MAE156B students teams solve real world engineer problems for project sponsors. All projects require development of a working hardware prototype. The students are responsible for project management, engineering analysis, and fabrication of their prototype. This course is meant to provide an experience in high level decision making and application of engineering theory using effective design practices. Emphasis is placed on:
Project Management (Risk Reduction, Scheduling, Decision Making)
Application of engineering theory to design problems
Concept generation, Creativity, and Problem Solving.
Teamwork
Communication (oral, written, and graphical).
Machining and Fabrication methods, and Design for Manufacturability.
Using Engineering Standards*
