Post-Poster Deliverables

Complete the Peer Review by Wed. 3/12/2012 midnight.

Upload One Selected Photo and Team Names

Checkout by Thursday March 21, 2012

  • Deliver hardware to sponsor
  • Clean lab space and have check-off list sheet signed off

Check Webpage For:

  • Make sure you have your best videos, animations, CAD, and photos on your front page. Often viewers never click to subpages.
  • Make sure your final poster is uploaded in ppt format.
  • Make sure your final presentation, CAD, and other documentation is uploaded.
  • Include any long term emails on the Team page if you would like viewers to contact you after graduation from UCSD.

Report Turn-In for Section A00 to Dr. Delson

  • A turn-in bin is located in EBU2-239. Dr. Delson will pick the bin up Monday 3/19 at 9 am to begin grading.
  • Webpages should also be competed by Monday 3/19 at 9 am.

Poster Printing

  • File should be emailed to your TA by Saturday 3/17 by noon, unless arrangements have been made otherwise.

Poster Day - Wednesday March 21, 2012

  • 1 to 2 team members should arrive at 10:30 am to put up poster and arrange hardware. If you need a special space to shwo your hardware please talk to Isaiah Freerksen on Monday.
  • All team should be present between 11:30am-2:30pm, with at least one person staying by the person throughout the event to explain the poster (take turns).
  • Make sure to invite sponsors to the poster event. J.V. has arranged for parking spots, but you need to let her know if your sponsor will be needing one. It is recommended to meet the sponsor at the parking lot when they arrive.

Webpage Details

  • Each team will need to select one representative photo and enter team names in webpage site. Details will be provided on Monday of finals week.

Peer Review

  • The Peer Review needs to be completed by midnight of Poster Day.
  • Please add in the "comments to the instructor section:" Designate one team member as Most Valuable Player (MVP), and another team member as runner-up

Day after Posters - Thursday March 21, 2012

A quick word on posters

Use PowerPoint and make the dimensions 42x36 inches. You can use this poster as a template. Try to use bullets over excessive amounts of text, this is a poster not a written report! Have the rough draft of your poster available on your website by midnight on Friday of 9th week. Mike and I will bring a quarter-scale version of your poster to the 10th week meetings. You'll get a chance to see what your poster will look like and get feedback before your final draft is printed. 

This is the opportunity to use your best CAD.  Do not use graphics where sketch planes and other such things are visible.  Since you will be using a white background on your poster, it is strong recommended your graphics either have a white background or transparent background to blend seamlessly into the rest of the poster.

2nd draft due section A00 team grading scheme

Hey all. 

The 2nd draft of your report is due right now. Midnight on Friday March 2nd. This draft needs to be graded by each member of another team in your section. And vice versa. See the report 2 guidelines and it will highlight the fact that each member grading another report should use a different color and make comments visible and clear. The arrangement of which teams will grade which reports is listed below. If you have questions please let me know. Email your reports directly to the other team, not myself or Dr Delson.

Team 3 --> team 7
Team 4 --> team 6
Team 5 --> team 1
Team 6 --> team 2
Team 7 --> team 5
Team 8 --> team 4
Team 9 --> team 3

This grading should be done over the weekend and completed by Tuesday at the latest. Please print out a hard copy and do not grade this electronically.

Section A00 Wednesday meeting for 2/22 changed

Hello all,

Please see the proper link for "Group 1 and 2 meetings" or just look below to see the updated meeting times.  The meetings each had to be shortened to 20 minutes each which I don't think anyone will complain about.  Professor Delson has a previous obligation which has him unavailable after 4pm so please make your best effort to have all your team at the new meeting time.  

These meetings will be at your normal workspace, so please let me know if you are in an odd or not normal work place.

Updated Report Template

The Report Template has been updated:
  • Track changes has been turned off and old comments have been removed
  • The right click methods of adding captions to figures is shown, as well as sub-captions
  • Methods to avoid unwanted page breaks using "keep with next" is also shown
You can use the old template if you already started with it, but you may want to look at the new one for formatting tips.

Extended Machine Shop Hours!

We hired a new machinist and now can offer evening and weekend machine shop hours:
  • Tues. thru Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 pm.
  • Saturday 10am-6pm (BUT only starting on Feb 11)

A00 Schedule Update

Please Review the Following Items that have also been Updated on the Schedule for A00
  • In week 4 we are back to our Monday and Wednesday Meeting Schedule
    • Monday meetings in EBU2-174 (walk by student affairs office)
    • Wednesday meetings in EBU2-270
  • In week 5 we have the same schedule but we will be meeting in the team work space to enable hardware review. Please clean the space!
  • In week 6 we have Proof of Concept Presentations in Class. Lecture room TBD.
  • In week 7, we need to move the meetings to Thursday and Friday. Please see the Off Schedule Meeting Slots, and email the TA with all possible times your team can make it. We will meet in the team work space.
  • In week 8, we have Preliminary Design Review Presentations in class (these were previously listed for week 9)
  • In week 9 and 10, we are back to our Monday and Wednesday Meeting Schedule in the team work space.
